I grew up in an environment with a lot of adversity and instability - and very little joy - which led to years of anxiety and self-doubt. Having found my way through all of that insecurity and fear, to not only survive, but to thrive and enjoy my life, to love who I am, and to find fulfillment and success in my career and relationships, inspired me toward a deep passion and calling to help others. 

I love to teach people mindset skills and success strategies to create happiness, joy, and success on their terms, and to feel confident about who they are and what they can do!

Prior to becoming an author, life coach, and speaker, Joy enjoyed a successful fourteen year career in the hospitality industry working in such roles as Business Development and Sales Manager with Expedia, and Classic Vacations and as Leisure Sales Manager with Fairmont Hotels and Resorts, Hawaii.

Joy is certified in both Positive Psychology Coaching and Applied Positive Psychology (CIPP) -- the study of optimal human flourishing and resilience. She received her positive psychology education under Harvard Professor, Tal Ben-Shahar, Kripalu Institute and Wholebeing Institute.

She is also a certified Yoga Teacher in the Anusara style -- a therapeutic application of yoga psychology and practice. She also has training in mindfulness, meditation, breathing practices and stress management
